We care so much, in fact, that we want to give you a DSi XL!

When: Monday, April 5th, until Friday, April 30th
Where: Edward McKay Used Books & More, 3720 Bragg Blvd, Fayetteville NC

What you have to do: Stop by our store. Fill out a survey. It’ll only take a few minutes! We’ll ask you questions that will help us tailor our inventory, store events, and customer service to make them better. Once you’re done with the survey, we toss it in the raffle bucket and you’re entered into a drawing to win a brand new DSi XL! (Oooh, shiny.)

The fine print: Drawing will be held at noon on Saturday, May 1st. Survey must be filled out completely in order for you to be eligible to win. (Bookstore employees and relatives are not eligible to win, so don’t even try it, y’all.) Winners will be contacted via phone and announced on our Facebook and Twitter pages. If you win the DSi XL and don’t want it (we find this hard to be believe, but it’s possible), you may choose to either get cash equivalent to what we would pay for the system, or the a trade credit equivalent for our DSi XL sale price.

Your privacy: We’ll use your phone number only to call you if you win; otherwise we won’t use it for any purpose whatever. We’ll e-mail you one time, to invite you to join our supercool mailing list, but if you don’t join it you’ll never hear from us again and we will not sell, rent, or otherwise share your e-mail address with any third party. Thanks to everyone who came by the Heathens Art Show on September 19, 2009 in Fayetteville. We were delighted (and happily surprised!) by the large numbers of people who came by to listen to the music and check out the artwork. Below is a small sample of what was available in the David Bowie Room that evening.

Of course, the Fayetteville Edward McKay’s will continue to have plenty of events, including music, art, and book signings. Watch this site for news and announcements!

Fayetteville: Used Books and an Art Show!

Usually when we say “Used Books and More,” we mean a selection of our other merchandise like movies, video games, music CDs, and audio books. But this weekend we also mean art and live tunes! Our Fayetteville store will be hosting the Heathens Art Show, featuring the work of Christina Cole, Sam Guin, Mike Dees, And Govina Taylor, who make up the Feral Art Collective in Fayetteville, as well as our own manager and artist Kristi Jones. The show is taking place this Saturday, September 19th, from 6pm to 9pm, in the David Bowie room. And if the art isn’t enough, the show is also featuring music from DJ Randy of Hypersonic.

If you can’t manage to make it this Saturday, the art from the show will be on display in the David Bowie room for a week, and we’ll try to get some pictures of the show up on the Web site. But we’d really love to see you this weekend!

Author Dr. Edward Vaughn Visits Fayetteville Edward McKay’s

On Saturday, March 14th, 2009, Edward McKay Used Books and More in Fayetteville hosted local author Dr. Edward Vaughn. Many people came in just to see Dr. Vaughn, who has written multiple books set in and around the Cumberland County area.

Dr. Vaughn’s books include The Tybee Series (Tybee: A Fictional Novel, Tybee II: The Abduction, Tybee III: For the Love of Money, Tybee IV: Why The Little Children?, Tybee V: Island Terror, and Tybee VI: Pretty Little Princess) and The Cumberland County Series (including Cumberland County and The Evil That Men Do)

The Fayetteville Edward McKay’s is HIRING!

Do you like books, movies, music, video games and more? Are you looking for a fun, demanding full-time job where you can learn new things and interact with the public? Do you have some college experience? Have you ever worked at a bookstore, record store, video game store or library? Then a job at Edward McKay Used Books and More might be for you!

We are looking for candidates with retail bookstore, record store or similar experience to fill two full-time spots. Some college and prior retail experience are required, and management experience is a definite plus. Our store is open from 9am to 9pm Monday through Saturday and 12pm to 6pm on Sundays We want someone with the flexibility to work any of those hours. Some nights and weekends are required. Previous applicants need not re-apply.

We will be taking applications both in the store and online at Google Docs. Please do not call about this job or about applications submitted, as we will only be contacting those candidates that we want to interview. Seriously. Don’t call us. We’ll call you.

We are also hiring for two seasonal part time positions for the Summer, approximately 20 hours per week from May to August. If you are interested in this position, you can fill out the online application and let us know you want part time work.

Edward McKay’s is now hiring for several slots in Fayetteville, N.C. We would prefer to hire people with bookstore, record store, video store, or game store experience, but we are willing to train the right candidate.

We currently hiring for full-time positions. We are not accepting part-time applications. Weekend work is required for all staff members (non-negotionable), but we can be moderately flexible on other shifts.
